12/6/10 Lufkin Police reports

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Burglary               700 Block Lubbock Street 

On Sunday, December 05, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 4:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized the complainant's residence, located in the 700 block of Lubbock Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) forced entry into the residence by damaging an entry door located at the side of the residence, and removed from within the residence a Hewett Packard brand desktop computer and a fifty-inch LG brand flat-screen television.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Burglary                                                               2300 Block Northwood Street

On Sunday, December 05, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 11:00 A.M. and 7:45 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized the complainant's residence, located in the 2300 block of Northwood Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) entered into the residence through a kitchen window and removed from within the residence two Hewett Packard brand laptop computers, a Swiss Gear brand laptop backpack, and a Kenneth Cole brand wristwatch.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Firearm/Shots Fired                                       400 Block Ward Street

At approximately 6:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 05, 2010, Lufkin Police Department officers responded to the 400 block of Ward Street in Lufkin in reference to reports of gunshots in that area.  According to the report, callers stated that they heard yelling among a large group that had gathered in the community park on Ward Street and then they heard gunshots.  The report stated that evidence was collected from the scene but all involved parties fled the scene prior to the officers' arrival.  There were no reported injuries or property damage related to the incident and it was referred for further investigation.

Theft/B                                                                1000 Block Kurth Drive

On Sunday, December 05, 2010, two complainants reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 11:00 A.M. that date a known suspect stole money from both complainants at their residences, located in the 1000 block of Kurth Drive in Lufkin.  According to the report, the grandson of one complainant offered to run errands for the complainants and was given money to do so but did not return.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
