LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A man who Lufkin Police say was upset over not winning money was arrested after he tried to steal two canned soft drinks and used a knife to try to get away Tuesday night.
Eddie Handy, 53, is charged with aggravated robbery, resisting arrest and failure to identify.
According to the police report, Eddie Handy became angry when a convenience store clerk at 620 North Raguet Street told him his lottery tickets were not winning tickets. The employee said Handy left the store with the drinks without paying, then pulled out a knife and threatened to kill the employee.
When officers arrived, they said they found Handy standing outside the store and he refused commands to drop the knife, so the officers used a TASER device to control him.
Handy also refused to reveal his identity, according to the report. Angelina County Jail staff were able to identify him Wednesday afternoon.
