PASADENA – For all but about four minutes in Wednesday's game with San Jacinto, the Angelina College Roadrunners were able to keep pace with the country's No. 3-ranked Ravens.
Those four minutes were just enough for San Jac to break open a one-point game en route to an 82-71 win over the Roadrunners.
AC couldn't get shots to fall after drawing to within a single point at 51-50 with just over 14 minutes to play. San Jac then used the ‘Runners' cooled-down shooting to reel off a 13-2 run and send AC to its third loss in conference play.
Trent Brantley led the Roadrunners with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Myers added 10 points and six boards; and E.J. Williams finished with nine points.
Five Ravens hit double figures, led by Flavien Davis' 17. Marsel Holden finished with 15 points, Tyree Johnson and Devin Bray added 12 points each and Chris Richardson chipped in with 10 points.
The Ravens remained undefeated on the season, pushing their record to 14-0, 4-0, while the Roadrunners dropped to 7-6 and 0-3.
In Houston, AC's Lady Roadrunners moved to 3-0 in conference play with a 68-59 win over the San Jacinto Lady Gators.
AC's teams will be off for the holiday break, with the Lady Roadrunners resuming action on Dec. 30th at the SWBC tournament in Waco, and the Roadrunners hosting Richland College on Jan. 3rd.
