LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Five years of planning is now building into a 156-acre Business Park in Lufkin.
The project is already under construction at the property on highway 103 East.
The business park will serve multiple uses -- catering to industrial tenants, corporate headquarters, and businesses.
"When the city of Lufkin passed a 4B economic Development Corporation, the number one priority was to buy land and create a business park to put us in an advantageous position to recruit new industry and create jobs and we're at out here today to say that we've purchased the land," said Director of Economic Development Jim Wehmeier.
The project is being funded with four-million dollars in grants from hurricane recovery funding set aside specifically for economic development.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
The first tenant will be announced Friday morning.
