LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – A group of Lufkin baseball players suited up, as they prepared to get a little muddy...Really muddy is more like it.
They're cleaning out the VFW lake, filled with metal scraps blown into the water by the December tornado.
The cleanup effort may have been the coach's idea but the guys are making it a fun experience, and say it's an opportunity to help their community.
"Veterans have given us so much through everything, not just the War in Iraq, everything else. We just need to do a little something for them," said Gandy Stubblefield, a senior.
The highschoolers planned to clean up through the night, or until they've covered the area.
