ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - An Angelina County elderly woman was in her Cedar Grove home at the time it caught on fire, but managed to get out without injury.

According to Rivercrest Volunteer Fire Department Chief E.R. Brooks, Nettie Fleminn lived in the house on Mamie Street, located off FM 2251, with just two birds, who died in the fire.

It took firefighters from Central, Hudson, Rivercrest and Fuller Springs VFDs 45 minutes to contain the blaze.

Brooks said a cause of the fire is not known, but probably started in the den.

American Red Cross is assisting Fleminn.
