LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a Lufkin man who they say was caught trying to steal a TV and cookies from a drug store.

John Dexter House, 39, is charged with theft. Because he has been convicted at least twice of the crime, the charge is enhanced to a state jail felony.

According to the police report, an employee of CVS, located at 923 West Frank Ave., caught House concealing in his clothing a package of cookies and a TV and leaving the store without paying for them at about 7 a.m. Thursday.

House dropped the TV and ran away when employees tried to stop him in the store's parking lot, according to the report. The employees followed him and said he got rid of the cookies behind the store before officers arrived and arrested him.

House is also charged with outstanding misdemeanor warrants for loitering, two other thefts, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana, disorderly conduct and assault.
