E-cards continue to grow in popularity

UNDATED - Modern technology has made it possible to send cards to people in mere seconds.

Electronic cards or E-cards are the online counterpart of a traditional greeting card.  There are e-cards for every occasion and emotion.

The e-card technology was introduced in 1995, exploded in 2008 and has made a dramatic resurgence this Christmas season.  What makes them so popular?  Consumers like the ease, comfort, reliability, ability to personalize the card and how inexpensive or free the cards can be.

Others say e-cards are impersonal and invite scammers an opportunity to infect your computer with malicious software.
