TRINITY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Trinity man was killed early Saturday when a pickup truck fell on top of him while he was turning donuts on private property.
Sheriff Ralph Montemayor said Cheyenne Cody Shaw, 24, of Trinity, was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:30 a.m.
According to Montemayor, Shaw was driving donuts in a 2001 Ford pickup in a hay field on private property that did not belong to him, on Glendale Cemetery Road. He lost control of the truck and part of his body came out of the window and the truck flipped on top of him.
Shaw's brother, Zane Colter Durdin, 18, of Trinity was a passenger in the truck. He was treated for minor injuries and released from a Trinity hospital.
Montemayor said Shaw's family are longtime residents of Trinity County.
"They're very distraught," he said. "It's a hard thing to take. I know his father and mother and they're very good people."
Shaw has no criminal record and Montemayor said his office never had trouble with him.
"We don't condone something like this and encourage parents to talk to their kids and watch their actions so this doesn't happen," he said.
