LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Sexual assault charges have been dropped against a Lufkin man accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl.
Court records in the district attorney's office showed the charges against Andrew William Ray, 36, were dropped on Dec. 13. But a judge has yet to sign the dismissal.
Ray admitted in open court that he did kiss the girl's belly button, but did not do it in a sexual way.
A jury could not reach a verdict in Ray's June trial.
Prosecuting Attorney Tony Latino said a judge has not signed the paperwork which dismisses the charges and could not comment on the case until then. Ray's attorney, Al Charanza, also declined to comment until he saw the dismissal paperwork.
