Japanese Exchange Students Enjoy East Texas

Some Japanese students are enjoying their visit to East Texas. This stems from both a relationship and program Nacogdoches has developed with Naze, Japan.

Japanese eighth grade students learn about the experiences of East Texas, by participating in a little bit of skating Thursday. They may not understand the concept of the hokey pokey, but they are having a good time.

Yuko Nakahara, leader of the students, said, "We have been studying at SFA in the morning, but in the afternoon we do some activities in town and sometimes outside of town. It is so nice to be here."

Five students participated in this summer's program. The students said they have had fun meeting the nice people of East Texas, and the one word they used to describe the pineywoods, is that it is "Hot."
