Lawmen prepare to step up crack down on DWIs and enforcement of new laws

EAST TEXAS (KTRE) – Nacogdoches police are preparing to crack down on some important laws relating to alcohol use.

On New year's Eve NPD will join all law enforcement on stepped up patrol of D-W-I's.

Then, through March, Nacogdoches police will conduct at least four stings at parties and businesses selling and serving alcohol to minors.

"We'll be looking for parties that's making alcohol available to minors and we'll make corrective action if they're located. We'll also focus on the bars and again the off premise locations and we'll conduct minor stings and basically that's sending in an underage minor and seeing if they can purchase alcohol," Butch White, Nacogdoches Police Department, said.

The overtime schedules needed to conduct the stings will be paid for through a grant from the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission.
