NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches couple has adopted a Jack Russell Terrier which hitched a ride on an 18-wheeler from Oklahoma to East Texas.
The truck driver found him at a Lufkin Brookshire Bros covered in dirt and grease but now he sits in the lap of luxury of his new owner, Chuck Cheek.
Cheek and his wife, Debra, adopted Diesel after seeing the story about him on KTRE.
"I hate to think of someone going through that ordeal and not having a home and the thing we said when we saw him, I told Debra and she agreed, she says, 'we can't leave him homeless,'" Chuck Cheek said.
Diesel is fitting in real well with an older Jack Russell and a cat.
He still has a rambling nature, so the Cheecks have increased the height of their fence and keep a close watch on him all the time.
