ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Two former Diboll football standouts and another Diboll man, who also participated in athletics at Diboll, have been arrested and charged $16,000 worth of items from an Angelina County residence.
Alexander Gabriel Castillo, 20, Damion Deon Baldwin 19, and Kendal Jackson, 20, are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a first-degree felony.
The three were booked into the Angelina County Jail on Wednesday, after an Angelina County Sheriff's investigator obtained a warrant for their arrest.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the three stole several pieces of jewelry from a home on FM 2497 on Monday. The resident told law enforcement she came home to find the rear door of her residence damaged and the jewelry gone.
A short time later, a neighbor said he saw two men running from her house and getting into a car. He was able to provide a license plate number, which authorities traced back to Castillo's step-father.
Deputies confronted Castillo on Wednesday and found him in possession of the jewelry, according to the affidavit. Castillo then confessed to burglarizing the residence, as well as residences on Lonestar Road and Green Ridge Circle, the affidavit states.
Castillo also said he was the driver in the burglaries and Baldwin and Jackson stole the property.
Castillo and Jackson had successful football careers at Diboll High School, with Castillo signing a letter of intent to play college football at Texas A&M-Commerce and Jackson at Sul Ross, in 2009. Baldwin played basketball for the Lumberjacks.
