Skillet Seared Filets
4, 1 ½" thick filet
1 pound of sliced mushrooms
2 sticks of butter
½ cup of red wine
Sea salt
Crushed black pepper
Brown gravy pack
Heat a cast iron skillet on high until very hot. Sear each side of your filet for 1 minute, including sides. Once seared place 1 tablespoon of butter on top of each filet and place the skillet with steaks in a 400 degree oven. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes for rare, 10 to 12 minutes for medium rare, and 12 to 14 minutes for medium.
Mushroom gravy:
Place your sliced mushrooms in another skillet over medium high heat with a half stick of butter. Shake sea salt and crush black pepper to taste. Cook until mushrooms are sticking to the skillet. De glaze with your red wine. At the same time cup your gravy packet per instructions and then add the mushrooms to the gravy. Once filets are done smother with the mushroom gravy and enjoy.
