Nacogdoches girl dies in shooting accident

CRANFILS GAP, Texas (KTRE) - The Bosque County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a four-year-old Nacogdoches girl who authorities say was accidentally shot by her father.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies and emergency personnel responded to a residence on County Road 4195 in Cranfils Gap, involving a shooting.

The child, Ila Nadine Coble, was accidentally shot in the face. She and her father, Dean Wayne Coble, both of Nacogdoches, were visiting family.

The sheriff's office determined the father was shooting at a target and accidentally shot his daughter.

She was taken to a hospital in Clifton, where she was pronounced dead.

The Bosque County District Attorney's Office and sheriff's office continues to investigate the incident.

The father and her mother, Theresa Coble, are professors in the SFA College of Forestry and Agriculture. The SFA Alumni Association has set up a scholarship in Ila Coble's memory. Donations can be made to the Association.
