LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man who rammed a police officer in a convenience store on his way to stealing an alcoholic drink pleaded guilty to the charge on Tuesday.
Edwin Jabroskey Simpson, 22, agreed to serve 12 years in state jail as part of the robbery conviction.
According to a November KTRE report, an officer witnessed Simpson hide a Tilt alcoholic beverage in his clothes and try to leave the store. The officer told Simpson to stop, but he instead used his 6'3", 260-pound body and momentum to ram the officer into the store's entry doors, breaking the doors and causing minor injury to the officer.
Simpson then fled from the store but was captured by officers in the middle of the street on North Raguet Street.
