LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – An off-duty Nacogdoches warrant officer and his father-in-law, a reserve deputy for the Sheriff's Office, were shopping Saturday at Fresh Harvest when they noticed something suspicious going on in the meat section.

They observed Herod Chatman stuffing meat inside his pants.  Chatman finally noticed the two men watching him, he took off running outside the store.

The two off-duty law enforcement officers chased him outside and caught Chatman as he was getting inside his car.

He was arrested for felony theft.  The charge was enhanced to a felony since it was discovered that Chatman already had a warrant out for his arrest for an alleged theft from a Dollar General a couple of months ago.
