TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Elaine Willis is aware that many people call her "the Dragon Lady." But it's not because she breathes fire, it's because of the whimsical dragons she creates out of driftwood.

A friend introduced Willis to the charms of dragons on a trip to New Zealand. The friend created her dragons out of porcelain but it was the driftwood she picked up on New Zealand beaches that sparked Willis's imagination.

Although Willis is trained in sculpting, she doesn't cut the driftwood but lets its' shape determine how her dragons turn out. Since each dragon is unique, Elaine names each and has even written poems about each one which are published in a book.

Elaine Willis's home is filled with dragons which she finds not a bit scary. In fact she calls them "Angels in Disguise."
