NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man was killed Monday morning when a Shreveport man turned in front of him on State Highway 7 East, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Trooper John Riggins said Jesus Lopez, 51, was driving his motorcycle westbound when an eastbound Chevy Impala, driven by Emory Fields III, of Shreveport, La., attempted to turn left onto FM 2112. Lopez hit the car head-on and died on impact.
"There were no skid marks," Riggins said. "It was quite a mess."
Before emergency responders could arrive at the scene, an empty log truck, driven by TJ Matthew Calloway, 29, of Center, crashed into the debris, causing heavy damage to the rig.
Riggins said Fields was cited for failure to yield right-of-way and information would be presented to a grand jury regarding a criminal negligence charge.
Lopez worked at Basic, an energy service in Center.
