LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A woman who charged with driving drunk with three small children when she was involved in a Lufkin wreck in September accepted a probation sentence on Monday.
Mayra Hernandez also agreed to pay a $250 fine and $250 to Angelina Alliance for Children. Her driver's license is suspended for six months and she agreed to other terms and conditions.
The accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Sept. 10 on College Drive near the intersection of Daniel McCall Drive.
A white Pontiac, driven by Hernandez, collided with a gray Ford. The driver of the Ford, 77-year-old Paul Crye, of Lufkin, and his passenger, 88-year-old Mildred Stuber were taken to Memorial Health System. They were treated for minor injuries and released that night.
Hernandez and three children, ages 1,2,3, were taken by ambulance to Woodland Heights Medical Center. They were also treated and released.
Investigators said Hernandez crossed the centerline and struck the car driven by Crye. The police report also states Hernandez was issued citations for Fail to Maintain Single Lane, No Driver's License, No Insurance, Open Alcohol Container, and three counts of Improperly Restrained Child.
Hernandez is in the Angelina County Jail, serving two concurrent 30-day sentences for assault charges.
