HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) – It was a packed house at Tuesday night's Huntington city council meeting.
More than 100 people showed up to voice concern over an apparent police incident involving the city secretary's son.
Allegations were made that Betsy Gregson's son hit a police officer in the face on a domestic dispute call, and nothing was done about it.
City attorney Jimmy Cassells says the meeting was held after he received four letters about the alleged incident. City council wanted to allow a chance to hear what they knew.
Most residents told the council they heard about it over police scanners and claimed reliable sources also told them what happened.
"The letters were full of gossip, innuendo, speculation and that was the whole purpose of inviting those folks to the meeting tonight, finding out what is fact," said Cassels.
Cassels says the council and chief of police will meet to discuss any further investigation of the incident.
