Coker Would Rather Gig 'Em Than Axe 'Em

Stephen F. Austin's football camp begins in less than a week. The Jacks will report next Tuesday without last season's kicker.

Former Lufkin Panther Stephen Coker had a change of heart and decided to leave the Lumberjacks after one season.

Coker will enroll at Texas A&M and become a walk on kicker for the Aggies. He will redshirt this season and have 3-years of eligibility beginning in 2004.

During Coker's freshman campaign at SFA a last season, Coker converted 8 of 15 field goal attempts was succesful on 4 of 7 attepts between 40-49 yards.

Two seasons ago, Coker led Lufkin to the state title and was one of the top kickers in the nation.
