LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – The Wells City Council decided not to talk money at Monday evenings budget workshop.
The council instead discussed their termination of Jeff Clopp in executive session, and then decided not to contest Clopp's unemployment benefit application.
Mayor Pro Tem Robert Kalka says he's frustrated the council still hasn't gotten to the city's money troubles.
"I encourage them very much to come to the council meetings. Let them see what happens, voice your concerns... So we as council members look at our citizens and try to quell their fears or take care of the problems that they have," said Kalka.
The council decided to re-schedule the budget workshop for Tuesday, February 8th, but not before blasting KTRE for our coverage of their budget problems and the firing of the police chief.
