LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a Lufkin man in connection to an investigation into two thefts at two businesses in which he was employed.
Abel Isaac Herrera, 28, is charged with one county of felony theft and another count of misdemeanor theft, in addition to five traffic offenses.
The case goes back to Jan. 2009, with Herrera allegedly stealing $8,000 of money and merchandise from Bed Bath and Beyond, where he worked as an assistant manager. Herrera was fired from the business, but was employed with Kmart in April 2009, as a loss-prevention officer, when he was fired for allegedly stealing less than $50 of merchandise from there.
Loss prevention officers from both businesses reported the thefts to police. A warrant on the Kmart theft was issued in Aug. 2010 and for the Bed Bath and Beyond theft in Dec. 2010.
Herrara surrendered to police at the Angelina County Jail on Tuesday.
