SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - SHELBY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Sheriff Newton Johnson reports that on February 3, 2011, at approximately 7:30 am, the Shelby County Sheriff's Department received a report of a suspicious vehicle on CR#3193 near Hiway 7 in the Jackson Hill area.  Shelby County Deputy Curtis Archie responded to the call and upon arrival located a 1996 Mercury Marquis on CR#3193.  Shelby County Deputies Chad Brown and Pete Davis also arrived on the scene and assisted in this investigation.

Deputy Archie approached the vehicle and found a B/M subject passed out in the drivers seat. The deputies were able to wake the driver and he was later identified as Jarvis Taylor, a 22 year old B/M from Center.  According to deputies, when Jarvis Taylor was asked for his drivers license he handed Deputy Archie a Brookshire Bros. grocery receipt.  As Taylor exited the vehicle he (Taylor) was unsteady on his feet, disoriented, incoherent, combative and not sure of where he was, where he had been or how he got to this location on CR#3193.

Sheriff Johnson reports that upon further investigation, deputies found approximately 8 grams of Alprazolam tablets, several other unidentified tablets along with some Marijuana, a digital scale and narcotics paraphernalia.  Jarvis Taylor was arrested and charged with possession of a Controlled Substance and is currently in the Shelby County Jail.  A bond has not been set at this time.
