LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin teenager accepted a probation sentence in connection to a burglary police say he and another Lufkin teenager attempted in September.
Tony Ray McKind agreed to an eight-year probation sentence and to pay a $500 fine.
According to the report, Otis Ray Daniels and McKind were caught by a neighbor leaving a home on the 500 block of Park Lane. The pair fled the home on bikes but were caught by police on the 200 block of Lee Lane, according to the report.
The owner then returned home and did not discover any property missing from the home, but police did observe the home had been forced into.
During the investigation, Lufkin Police learned Daniels and McKind attempted to burglarize two other homes, one on the 400 block of Arizona Avenue and the other on the 800 block of Carrol Avenue, the report states.
At one of the homes, they knocked on the door and when the owner answered, they asked them if they could be hired to mow the lawn, despite the lawn having been just mowed and they did not even bring lawn equipment, the report states.
At the other home, a dog scared them away, according to the report.
