STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - The Penn State women's basketball program has checked back into once-very familiar territory.
The Lady Lions are back atop the Big Ten this season, and on Monday returned to the AP Top 25, too. Penn State (20-5, 9-2) came in at No. 23 this week for the school's first ranking in more than a year.
Among the Lady Lions this year is sophomore Nikki Greene, a former Diboll Ladyjack.
Coach Coquese Washington says it's nice for her team to be recognized for what's already Penn State's best season since 2003-4, but insists there's much more work to do.
That starts Thursday, when No. 11 Michigan State (20-3, 8-2) visits the Jordan Center for the biggest Lady Lions home game in years. First place in the Big Ten will be at stake.
