GOODRICH, TX (KTRE) -

GOODRICH, Texas (KTRE) - A Conroe man died early Sunday following a one-vehicle wreck on the Goodrich loop.

A justice of the peace pronounced Jody Lynn Bell, 22, dead on the scene.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Bell was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup southbound on U.S. 59 at 5 a.m. when he lost control and left the road, striking a bridge rail, a road sign and an advertisement sign.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

An employee at the Livingston DPS office said alcohol containers were found at the scene and the speedometer was stuck at 120 miles per hour. She said the speedometer may have hit that number at impact, but it was obvious Bell was speeding.

A blood test has been sent off to determine if he was intoxicated.
