2/14/2011 Lufkin Police Report

02-13-2011     Burglary/Habitation     100 Block Woodmont Drive

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 8:00 PM that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized a residence located in the 100 block of Woodmont Drive in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) removed from the residence a forty-inch RCA brand television, a fifty-two-inch Emerson brand television, and a Microsoft brand Xbox gaming system.  According to the report, a witness observed the homeowner's ex-boyfriend leaving the residence shortly before the burglary was discovered.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation. 

02-13-2011     Theft     500 Block South Chestnut Street

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 7:30 PM that date an unidentified suspect stole the complainant's purse from within a business located in the 500 block of South Chestnut Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she mistakenly left her purse, containing the complainant's check book and debit card, in a shopping cart inside of the business and when she returned to retrieve the purse it was missing.  The report stated that an employee of the business described a female suspect that exited the business with the complainant's purse, and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

02-13-2011     Suspicious Activity     1200 Block Ray Street 

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that, without the complainant's knowledge or authorization, an unidentified actor(s) was living within a residence owed by the complainant.  According to the report, the complainant stated they were renovating the vacant residence, located in the 1200 block of Ray Street in Lufkin, in preparation for renting it but found that the actor(s) had installed an electric meter at the residence and had moved furniture, including a television and couch, and clothing into the residence.  The report stated that the electrical the service provider disconnected the electrical service, that the residence was secured, and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

02-13-2011     Theft     4500 Block South Medford Drive

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 5:00 PM that date an unidentified suspect stole merchandise from within a business located in the 4500 block of South Medford Drive in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant, an employee of the business, stated that the suspect ran from within the store carrying a thirty-two-inch LG brand television and fled the area in a waiting vehicle; the complainant described the suspect as a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and the vehicle as a maroon, older-model minivan.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.


02-13-2011     Theft     3300 Block South First Street

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 12:30 PM that date an unidentified suspect stole the complainant's wallet from within a restaurant located in the 3300 block of South First Street in Lufkin.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he left his wallet and food on a table while he refilled his drink when he returned to the table the wallet was missing.  The report stated that an employee of the restaurant described a female suspect that exited the business with the complainant's wallet, and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

02-13-2011     Arrest     1200 Block West Frank Avenue

At approximately 2:00 AM on Sunday, February 13, 2011, Lufkin Police Department officers arrested Amber Michelle Branum (White / Female / 19 / Lufkin) at Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Lufkin for the office of Assault, a Third Degree Felony.  According to the report, Lufkin Police Department officers were called to a residence located in the 600 block of Lazy Oaks Street in Lufkin to assist Lufkin Fire Department personnel who were attempting to assess the medical condition of Amber Michelle Branum.  Family members of Ms. Branum contacted Lufkin Fire and Police Department due to Ms. Branum being intoxicated and aggressive toward the family members.  With the officers' assistance, Lufkin Fire Department personnel transported Ms. Branum to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital on West Frank Avenue in Lufkin for evaluation but, while being treated, Ms. Branum punched an emergency room nurse.  The officers restrained Ms. Branum and, once medical clearance was obtained, booked her into Angelina County Jail for the offense of Assault.  Although the assault caused minor injuries to the nurse's cheek and throat, the offense is a Third Degree Felony due the victim being a person that Ms. Branum knew to be emergency services personnel providing emergency services.
