LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police arrested a Lufkin woman early Sunday after she allegedly punched an emergency room nurse who was trying to treat her.
Amber Michelle Branum, 19, is charged with assault. The charge was enhanced to a third-degree felony, because she is accused of assaulting someone she knew to be an emergency services worker.
According to the report, officers were called to a residence located in the 600 block of Lazy Oaks Street to assist Lufkin Fire Department personnel who were attempting to assess Branum's condition. Family members had called for help after they said Branum was intoxicated and aggressive toward them.
Officers and fire department personnel took Branum to the ER at Memorial Health System of Lufkin for evaluation. While being treated, police say Branum punched the nurse. Officers restrained her and once she was medically cleared, booked her into the Angelina County Jail around 2 a.m.
