HUDSON, TX (KTRE) – They call themselves "Team Macy" and they've gathered their resources in an effort to help one of their own.
High school student Macy Rhodes has a rare, severe epileptic activity that is degenerating her brain, according to counselor Karen King. King says there is no known origin for the seizures or epilepsy.
Rhodes has been battling the disease for over a year now. Tuesday the high school junior will have her second brain surgery.
The staff and students at Hudson High School have been selling "Team Macy" bracelets and the family has been selling "Team Macy" t-shirts to help with the enormous medical costs. Students plan to wear their "Team Macy" shirts, bracelets and purple ribbons on Tuesday in support of Rhodes.
