LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Pollok man will be criminally charged in a Feb. 9 two-vehicle accident which claimed the life of a Lufkin man, according to a Department of Public Safety spokesman.
Sgt. Greg Sanches said Isaac Tucker, 19, will be placed under arrest on one count each of intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault once he is medically cleared. In the meantime, Tucker is recovering in a Houston hospital for injuries he suffered in the wreck.
According to a previous report, Tucker was driving a 1995 Lexus southbound on U.S. 69 North, a mile south of FM 843, at 12:35 a.m., when he crossed the center line and struck an 18-wheeler head-on.
One of Tucker's passengers, Nicholas Zayne Anthony, 19, of Lufkin, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40 a.m. Another passenger, Ryan Walton, 19, of Pollok, was taken to a Tyler hospital with serious injuries.
Sanches said Tucker would make a full recovery, but Walton is still considered to be in critical condition.
A blood test was ordered on Tucker and an initial result gave DPS enough evidence to obtain warrants on Tucker's arrest.
