Lady Roadrunners Recognizing Sophomores

In the final home doubleheader of the season, Angelina College's basketball teams will host Blinn College Wednesday night at Shands Gymnasium, with each AC jockeying for playoff position in the upcoming Region XIV tournament.

The Lady Roadrunners tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. Live audio/video broadcasts will be available by logging onto and clicking on the Athletics link.

The Hudson High School Band will perform throughout both games.

AC's Lady Roadrunners will also recognize their four sophomores on Sophomore Night. Carenn Baylor, Paigen Guilford, Ashlyn Green and Tanisha Williams will play their final games at the home digs. Baylor and Guilford have been with the program for two years, while Green and Williams joined the team this season.

The Lady 'Runners (15-11, 10-5) currently sit in fourth place in the conference standings, a half game behind third-place Tyler and two games back of Kilgore – each of whom the Lady Roadrunners beat earlier in the season. AC also came within seconds of an upset of first-place Trinity Valley on Saturday: The Lady Roadrunners fell to the No. 2-ranked Lady Cardinals 72-69, AC's first loss in six full games.

Blinn College's Lady Buccaneers (15-10, 7-6) are tied with Paris College for the fifth spot in the standings. Blinn topped Jacksonville 76-56 on Saturday.

The Roadrunner men are coming off Saturday's huge overtime upset of the 14th-ranked Trinity Valley Cardinals.  AC outscored the Cards 18-11 in the extra frame, with Vinnie Walls going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line to seal the win and keep the 'Runners (12-14, 4-11) in the post-season hunt. With 12 teams making the trip to the tourney scheduled to begin March 3rd at the University of Texas in Tyler, the Roadrunners are in position to lock down the 10th or 11th seed with a winning streak over these final four games.

Blinn's Bucs (15-11, 6-9) are coming off Saturday's 73-66 loss to Jacksonville College.

AC's men will host one final home game next Wednesday against Lee College, at which time they will recognize their sophomores.
