LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Texas Medical Board levied disciplinary actions against a Livingston doctor and a Nacogdoches doctor at its February meeting.
The board ordered Randal Neil Vinther, MD, a Nacogdoches physician, to complete eight hours of CME in medical record-keeping, pass the Medical Jurisprudence Examination and pay a $2,000 penalty. The board found Vinther violated the standard of care in his treatment and prescribing of controlled substances for a close family member.
The board also ordered Elias T. Kanaan, MD, a Livingston physician, to complete a medical record-keeping course and have a physician monitor his practice. The board found that Kanaan failed to maintain adequate medical records for chronic pain patients and failed to use proper diligence in his professional practice in failing to follow up on patient compliance and pain management referrals.
