Lufkin man injured in N.M. wreck recovering in Lufkin

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man who was seriously injured after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in New Mexico is now recovering in a Lufkin hospital.

Patrick Chambers' brother, Taylor Chambers, died in the same wreck on Feb. 6.

Patrick Chambers stayed in an Albuquerque hospital until this week, when he was flown to a Lufkin hospital.

On Friday, friends and relatives were selling green T-shirts at AAA Trophy in Lufkin to show support and raise money for the Chambers family. Anyone still interested in buying a T-shirt can contact Kara Due on Facebook. Shirts are $17.

The funeral for Taylor Chambers is set for Saturday.

Authorities say Floyd Hobson, 61, was driving drunk on Feb. 6 when he crashed into Taylor Chambers, 20, and Patrick Chambers, 26, pinning them between his vehicle and another vehicle belonging to someone they were trying to help get out of a ditch. Taylor Chambers was pronounced dead that night at a Raton, N.M., hospital.
