LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – It took months of preparation and a week of shows, but finally, it was time for the livestock auction at the Angelina County Youth Fair Friday night.
The first to go were Grand Champions in each animal type were auctioned-off. The Blue Ribbon winning steer was the first one on the auction block, selling for$7,500.
Buyer pools like the Lufkin Business Men were active bidders all evening.
Youngsters from across the area celebrated their hard work.
"I got a grand champion chickens and grand champion commercial heifer and I won Junior Hog showmanship," said Cheyenne Swor, 8th grader.
"I want to say thanks to the buyer pools - they do a lot for the community," said Shelby Martin.
Proceeds from the auction goes toward the winners' college education.
