ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - The reported gas leak scare is over for residents in Zavalla after Angelina County Sheriff's deputies investigated and failed to locate any sign of a gas leak.
Deputies and fire department personnel were responding to earlier reports of a strong odor in the air and some people having difficulty breathing.
Deputies said after patrolling several roads in the reported area (Massey and Chambers Roads) they failed to locate any sign of a gas leak. They then canceled the evacuation and released emergency services like the American Red Cross.
Deputies suspect the windy conditions overnight might have spread fumes from what might have been a normal gas blowoff or pressure release.
Pipeline representatives were called to the scene to make their own assessment.
