LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Timothy Thompson is accused of burning down his own house almost a year ago, now he's facing a jury.

Thompson looked on as Lufkin fire officials told jurors he initially tried to keep his wife from speaking to authorities at the crime scene.

The witness said Thompson told him he was at the house with friends and left an hour before the fire was found.

Lufkin Fire Marshal Lee Fran Skelton walked the jury through a series of photos taken during her arson investigation.

In March, witnesses told authorities they saw Thompson light a pile of clothes on fire in the hallway.

The house was destroyed.
