JASPER, TX (News Release) – The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will be holding a series of public hearings to help in the updating of the regional transit plan.
The transit development plan covers the DETCOG 12-county region and will examine and evaluate the existing transit program and propose transit improvements and possible alternatives to the existing program.
The plan will address the comprehensive health, social service and workforce related needs in the region while looking for efficient solutions. Any suggestions generated by the public meeting process will also be considered. The first hearings will be held Wednesday, March 9th at 10 a.m. in Tyler County at the Aging Services Building, 201 Willow Street in Woodville. At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 9th a hearing will be held in Jasper County at the Commissioner's Courtroom in the Jasper County Courthouse in Jasper.
A hearing will also be held later that day, Wednesday, March 9th, at 4 p.m. in San Augustine in the District Courtroom at the San Augustine County Courthouse. The following day, Thursday, March 10th, hearings will start at 10 a.m. in the Commissioner's Courtroom in the Shelby County Courthouse in Center.
A second hearing will be held Thursday, March 10th, at 1:30 p.m. in the District Courtroom at the Sabine County Courthouse in Hemphill. The final hearing in the series will be held Thursday, March 10th, at 4 p.m. in the Howard Civic Center at 213 Court Street in Newton.
In addition to written and oral comments taken at the public hearings, written comments may be sent to Rusty Phillips, Director of Regional Services at the DETCOG office at 210 Premier Drive, Jasper, Texas 75951. Those comments must be received before 3 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011.
The Deep East Texas Council of Governments will provide for reasonable accommodations for persons attending Deep East Texas Council of Governments functions. Requests from persons needing special accommodations should be received by Deep East Texas Council of Governments staff 24-hours prior to the function.
