Firefighters Fight the Blaze

Firefighters are gaining ground on some of the wildfires burning in Montana -- but they could be in for a tougher fight in the days ahead.

Lower temperatures and rain this weekend allowed fire crews to build stronger fire lines around some of the blazes. But more hot and dry weather is expected later this week.

Several hundred people have either been evacuated or told they might have to leave their homes. The fires have charred around 350-thousand acres in Montana this summer.

Officials say they've contained several major fires over the past week. They say some of the blazes burning in and around Glacier National Park are at least 60 percent contained.

Big fires are also burning in Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas and Washington state.
