Police release identity of victim in Lufkin warehouse accident

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have identified the victim in a fatal accident at the Brookshire Brothers warehouse on Monday.

Clayton Carol Johnson, 44, died after a piece of metal fell on him while he was doing maintenance work at the warehouse, located at the corporate office at 1201 Ellen Trout Drive.

According to the police investigative report, Johnson's death was caused by a loading dock ramp falling onto him. According to a statement from Brookshire Brothers, one other employee witnessed the accident.

According to Lufkin EMS Coordinator Jimmy Ragsdale, Johnson was in cardiac arrest when EMS responded to the scene. He was taken by ambulance to Memorial Health System of East Texas - Lufkin, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Memorial hospital records, Johnson died at noon Monday from blunt force trauma to the chest.

Johnson had worked for Brookshire Brothers for four years.

A funeral service for Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
