NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man who was convicted last year for his role in a cockfighting ring is back behind bars following the sheriff's office investigation into allegations of indecency with a child.
Pedro Mata Mendez, 56, is charged with a second-degree felony charge of indecency with a child.
Mendez has been serving a one-year probation sentence since June 2010 after pleading guilty to animal cruelty. He was one of 17 men arrested in 2008 as part of a cockfighting ring bust on Woden Road.
Kerss said deputies arrested Mendez at his home on State Highway 7 East on Wednesday, following a week-long investigation into allegations that Mendez has had inappropriate sexual contact with an underage girl.
Kerss said Mendez's probation for animal cruelty will likely be revoked.
