SFA’s Olson Named Indoor Women’s Coach of the Year

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head track and field coach Phil Olson was named Southland Conference Women's Indoor Coach of the Year announced league officials Thursday morning. It is third consecutive year, and the ninth time in his career that Olson has been honored by the conference.

Despite the graduation of several conference champions from the 2010 squad the youthful Ladyjacks scored 115.5 points to outdistance the competition at the 2011 SLC Indoor Championships last week in Norman, Okla. It was the third consecutive indoor track and field crown for the SFA women, and the fifth-straight title overall.

The Ladyjacks finished the meet with four individual titles, nine All-SLC performances and set one school record. The team's individual titles came from junior Mary Dickerson in the 400 meters, junior Carrie Hahn in the high jump, sophomore Crystal Walker in the long jump and freshman Chelsea Stephen in the 60-meter hurdles.
