LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police say they found more than they were looking for when searching a shoplifter Sunday night.
Andrew Jackson Netherton III, 28, of Lufkin, is charged with felony theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of marijuana.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to Walgreen's, located in the 1000 block of West Frank Avenue, in reference to an in-progress theft. When officers located the suspect, who they knew from past encounters, they found him to be in possession of more than $100 worth of Walgreens merchandise, including vitamins and several pairs of glasses, according to the report.
While searching him, they also found him to be in possession of brass knuckles, meth, prescription Clonzapam and Xanax, which were not prescribed to him, and marijuana, according to the report.
Due to his prior convictions for theft, this incident was enhanced to a state jail felony offense.
