CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) – Crockett ISD administrators are promising to do whatever possible to save jobs in the school district.

Superintendent Douglas Moore says he's working with principals to find cutbacks that won't affect employees. At a special school board meeting last night, practical reductions to the budget were approved. Now, athletic competition travel is limited to a 60-mile radius.

"It's hard for me to sleep at night worried about that at night as far as the people in the district and the process we have to go through," said Moore.

Other examples of non-personnel cuts include canceling all district cell phones, and salary freezes for all district employees.

Moore says they are still considering ideas to save money without losing teachers and staff.
