LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a Lufkin mother of two following a two-week long investigation after a one-year-old ingested PCP.
Julia Shawentay Goodwin, 30, is charged with two counts of endangering a child.
Police began the investigation on Feb. 26, when the child was brought into the emergency room at Memorial Health Systems of East Texas in Lufkin. Staff performed a drug test and found evidence of PCP.
Police spokesman Lt. David Young said more in-depth testing confirmed the child had ingested PCP, and police obtained a warrant after that test came back. CPS also tested Goodwin's other child to see if that child had been exposed to drugs.
Young said police served the warrant to Goodwin at her residence on Wednesday. Representatives with Child Protective Services also went to the residence and took the children into custody.
