GROVETON, TX (KTRE) - By Morgan Thomas - email
GROVETON, Texas (KTRE) - The incident where a deputy shot a man on Tuesday night appears to be "an attempt to commit suicide by cop," according to a Texas ranger investigating the incident.
Texas Ranger Steven Rayburn said he is still investigating the incident, but said evidence and statements from family members points to Joshua Roberts attempting to take his life.
Rayburn said he believes two rounds were fired at the scene, located on the 400 block of West Second Street in Groveton.
Three deputies and a Groveton Police officer responded to the scene following a domestic violence call.
Deputy Kim Bruner shot Roberts at the scene. Chief Deputy Billy Patton said Roberts is "out of surgery and doing fine."
