AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Octavius Griffith scored 28 points and Tenaha beat Clarendon 72-59 in the Class 1A Division I semifinals Thursday.
Reginald Davis scored 18 points and DeAaron Roland ripped down 15 rebounds in the 20th consecutive win for the Tigers (28-9).
Griffith was 11 of 16 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Johnny Gaines had 31 points and 11 rebounds for Clarendon (24-7), but didn't get much help. No other Clarendon player made more than three baskets in the school's first state tournament appearance since 1970.
Clarendon led 19-15 after the first quarter before Griffith and Tenaha seized control in the second. Tenaha outscored Clarendon 38-20 in the second and third quarters.
Tenaha faces Clyde Eula (36-2) 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. Clyde Eula beat Evadale 54-51 to advance to the state championship.
