LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The annual Pete Runnels baseball tournament is underway, with Lufkin losing its opener to Port Neches Grove, 8-6.
Lufkin is scheduled to play two more games Thursday in Lufkin, against Trimble Tech at 5 p.m. and Socorro at 8 p.m.
In Hudson, Brazoswood played Hudson at 3 p.m. Port Neches Grove takes on Rudder at 5:30 p.m. and Hudson plays Rudder at 8 p.m.
Houston Memorial played Socorro at 3 p.m., with seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens in attendance. Clemens' son, Kacy, plays for Houston Memorial.
On Friday in Lufkin's Morris Frank Park, Trimble Tech plays Brazoswood at 10 a.m. and Port Neches Grove at 12:30 p.m. Lufkin plays Nacogdoches at 3 p.m. and Houston Memorial at 8 p.m. Brazoswood and Memorial play each other at 5:30 p.m.
In Hudson on Friday, Rudder and Socorro meet at 12:30 p.m., Socorro plays Plano East at 3 p.m., Rudder plays Plano East at 5:30 p.m. and Hudson plays Nacogdoches at 8 p.m.
